Here is an idea I'm working on for several month now. The goal was to create a ship inspired by previous designs without being exactly the same. Even her purpose is somewhat different from the former shuttlecarriers like the Hornet (SC-9700) class. I wanted a multirole carrier ship built for quick orbital delivery operations and support duties. Based on the actual navy classification nomenclature the Kobani (LPD-9710) class Landing Platform Dock was born.

Ooh. I like that. It seems a bit more the heavy destroyer or strike cruiser to me but yeah, I can see it as a platform too.

The profile was made for a faster and lighter starship than the traditional through-deck cruisers like the Coronado class. I've also developed a more TMP-like Coronado style series through-deck cruisers/shuttlecarriers. Perhaps shall I show these later in this thread? One of them has been built as a model kit, the Devonshire (SC-1979).

Sure.

You have a real talent for what works within the TMP design vocabulary, much like Todd Guenther.

This is directly inspired by Todd Guenther's work and especially Ships of The Star Fleet both volumes. Sometimes I include some elements from Jakill's Schematics too (i.e.: Devonshire's navigational deflector). What I'm searching for are information about rare ships but that will be the subject of another thread.

Yes. I know. I am somewhat familiar with those books. ;)

Thanks a lot, guys! I'll see if I can develop a technical and historical background for this ship class that could fit the Mastercom, Starfleet Battle and Starfleet Command universe. I like the idea of a slow transition to the post-TMP era (2290-2340) with races ever encountered in other Trek references (The Interstellar Concordium, the Hydrans, the Tzenkethi, the Talarians and even the early Cardassians and the Chodaks).
