I'd also like Aridas permission too. I have a slightly wider saucer for that Balson hull--it really looks nice.

My first attempt was just a refit saucer atop your Balson:

What if the Ariel were to lose its star-drive, and the saucer had to be salvaged. The side view isn't what I had in my mind--although I do like the over hang towards the rear of the saucer. But I love the plan view:
