I saw an article today, on Meta materials., and how they can create 'invisible' things.

It led me to two thoughts. The first deals with heat. A matter-antimatter reactor produces a great deal of heat. But what is you were to produce a reactor, made out of meta materials that would be invisible to that heat? It then becomes easy to get rid of that heat.... No radiators.

And what happens if those meta materials can convert a high percentage of that heat into a warp field? With out directly interacting with the heat???

So if meta materials can be used/ made to do unusual things, then it follows that your idea of negative matter, may be a bit more realistic, or at least closer.

Consider the fictional Nadian...

Assume that a meta material, con be made that would cause a virtual particle to 'exist'. That is, via custom designs, one could cause a Photon, for example to carry the virtual Nadian. This virtual particle, could therefore do, what a Disruptor Weapon/Phase Weapon/Phaser Weapon... For this to be workable, one must ask the right questions, in the right sequence. Not at the level I am working at here, but at first the next steps, then follow ups.

In other words, an ultra violet laser is a brute force version of a directed energy weapon. Phase weapons and beyond, aren't brute force. The degree of subtly is what changes the nature of the Phaser beam.

This is but one example.

Getting back to Aridas's ideas, for warp flight, how ever, one can assume that negative matter can be with meta materials be "generated" - this would explain the high power requirements, rather than actual negative matter...
